Commemorative pole #001: LANCASTER W4367 of No 106 Squadron

On this place the above named Lancaster crashed in the night of June 25 to 26 1943 on the way back from his mission to Gelsenkirchen (Dld.).

This marking pole #001 of the crashroute revealed on April 29, 2011 in Eastern Flevoland.


The disclosure was made by Mr. Gerrit Zwanenburg (former salvage officer), Rutger Kuiper (former National Office IJsselmeerpolders and so involved in the depopulation of the first airplane wrecks) and one of the longest coming Airgunners, Ron Powers.


Marking pole #001 was the first of a serie of 16 poles placed in 2011.
